Premium SHort Codes - 4G HSPA+

Short Codes can be used for mobile subscription services, for television voting or for ordering ringtones, themes or music. Instead of sending text messages to a 10-digit phone number, cell phone and Smartphone users send the message via Short Code – a five- or six digit number that often spells a word or brand name. A Short Code becomes a “Common Short Code” (CSC) when the same code is activated across multiple mobile phone networks, which greatly extends its reach to many more mobile phone customers. Short code text messaging is often billed at a higher (premium) rate than standard text messaging.

Please note that Premium Short Code programs are not supported on the Tbaytel CDMA network.

Opt In

To opt-in, the user must grant permission to the Content Provider prior to receiving the completed SMS or MMS message. Content must not be delivered until after confirmation has been made to participate in a Short Code program.

An opt-in response can be initialted to a short code program by:

  • Sending a Mobile Originated (MO) message from your handset
  • Signing up via a WAP interface
  • Signing up online
  • Signing up via a manually entered opt-in
  • Signing up via spoken opt-in

Opt Out

The user maintains the ability to stop participating and stop receiving messages from a Short Code program at any time. To opt-out of a program, text STOP to any Short Code number*

For more information on a short code program, text HELP or INFO to the Short Code number*. Once opted-out of a program, no further charges should be submitted by that program.

*In the event the opt-out process described above does not stop the messages and charges, please refer to the list of text messaging programs found at the link below. The short code number, program name, contact numbers and email addresses, can all be found at this link should there be a need to escalate any concerns regarding any charges that have been incurred from these short code programs.
